What is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda is an ancient system of life (ayur) knowledge (veda). It is a holistic system of health and well being that has its roots in ancient India and pre-dates every other medical system on the planet. The wisdom and practice of Ayurveda is 5,000+ years old, and some suggest it is considerably older.
Ayurveda is both preventative and curative. It emphasizes good health and prevention and treatment of illness through lifestyle practices (such as nutrition, exercise, meditation, and massage) and the use of herbal remedies.
In Ayurveda, we look at the body as a whole and each person as an individual. The goal is to uncover the imbalances within us and work to correct these. The closer we become to being in balance, the healthier we feel and the better equipped we are to prevent illness and disease.
